Pillar 13's Intro

Hello all,

I'm a high school student in Fort Worth, and i've been using macs about

as long as I've been using computers.

I was privileged enough to go to a school that had macs in the

computer lab. A few years later, they were replaced by some evil dells.

The bad news here is that we were stuck with dells at school. The good

news is that I got two or three free macs (regrettably I didn't keep them,

but rather gave them to some other junkie friends after i fixed them up).

Fast forward to middle school, where I was delighted to find a

Performa 5300CD under my teachers desk. I, of course, asked if I could

take the sad computer home. As my sig will tell you, I got the computer,

and fixed it up.

A year or two after that, I found a blueberry Imac sitting in the hall by the office. I asked the principal if I could have that mac as well. I got the

thing home and promptly installed more ram and OS 10.2.

The same year, I also managed an Emac 700mhz. This is the

computer I'm typing on right now. With more RAM and OS 10.4.11, it's a

smokin' fast machine.

So, there you have it, my entire mac story. If ever I find a mac in need, I take it in (if my mom will let me keep it 😉 )

Yeah I'm like that too with macs, as long as the folks are ok with it, it's a good liberation.

Welcome! When I was at school a few years ago, the place also went through the same transition to the "Dark Side" and replaced numerous Macs with the black Dell Optiplexes. The foundations of my collection came from the school and I managed to save most of the good Macs and take them home. They were mostly of the Plus, Classic and LC era though I did also score a PowerMac 5200 and an iMac.

It sounds like you have had a good haul so far, especially so with the eMac. Good luck in your future conquests!
