Posted by: didius on 2008-04-19 11:17:37 Hi everyone
i'm having some problems with my PowerBook G4 DVI. When I boot it up the screen shows some white and black spots...
Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Posted by: Patnukem on 2008-04-19 11:33:42 does the external dvi work? if it does, My first guess and keep in mind a wild guess, no real proof for me to think it but could be smashed wires in the video cable sorting? if not that it would almost have to be the lcd it self.

Posted by: Christopher on 2008-04-19 14:40:10 That looks like what my iBook did when i dumped soda on it, but i let it dry and it was fine. Must be the cables getting pinched or something.

Posted by: didius on 2008-04-19 17:44:03 Ok, i've been testing around.
And the LVDS cable seems to be the problem.
The cable seems to be extremly sensitive. The slightest movement makes stripes appear on the screen. However sometimes the screens shows normal image.
Should i replace the cable? Or are can you guys give me some tips? Should the LVDS cable be pushed in it's connector completly, or like halfway?

Just a thought.

Posted by: Patnukem on 2008-04-20 15:04:18 Lvds cables are easily damaged if you go to macdan's http://home.comcast.net/~macdan/tibook_display.html website about 2/3 of a way down you can see a close up picture of them and they are described as being like little coax cables. there is also lots of info for taking tibooks screens apart there.

Posted by: Da Penguin on 2008-05-18 16:06:39 This happened to me when I disassembled my hinges for a rebuild (which also eventually failed). Ended up that I had twisted them around the wrong way in aligning them.
I have a boatload of Ti parts back in Pittsburgh, so I would be more than willing to send over anything of need, but I won't be back home until september...
