OS 9 appearances

Silly Question:

in OS 9, how do I get my desktop pattern to be all black behind my wallpaper? All it will let me choose from are a bunch of weak pastels for patterns. :/

Find or make an image file that's pure black and drag and drop it into the Appearance Manager window over one of the crappy pastels. It'll push them aside to make room for itself.
