040 upgrade on a Rocket?

Barring space considerations, and socketed vs unsocketed 040s - a QuadDoubler or similar 040 upgrade in Rocket ... possible?

Socketting is not a problem. One of mine arrived with a 40MHz '040 in place of its designed 33MHz, a relic of an unfinished intention to upgrade. 33MHz now rules again.

As far as the speed increase is concerned, however, I am not sure what the former owner had intended. If you were to PM our own mercurial member, he may be able to fill you in.

What I'm thinking is one of the upgrades that runs at double the bus speed in an 040 Mac. ie at 50MHz on a 25MHz bus.

Wasn't one of those from NewerTech? Memory (beware!) reminds me that those accelerators rise up on eBay from time to time. One seller (name escapes me) in particular offers a variety of NIB NewerTech stuff.
