LaserWriter 4/600 with 6000 Pages!!!
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2008-04-11 17:32:50
Yes, only 6000 pages on this printer. It's like finding a 1995 model car with 6000 miles on it. Only set me back $15 plus tax.

This one uses the regular LW driver, right? I'm thinking of refurbing an SE and using it on there.

Yes, it uses the regular laserwriter driver.

Nice find. Works with OS X, Linux, and Windows NT 4 too. 🙂

Good to hear. Is toner still easy to find for this one?

Should be. You'll probably want to verify this, but it uses HP94A toners. Last one I bought new was three years ago though.

Awesome! Congrats!

Nice score. I found a LaserWriter 320 with about 40,900 pages on it back in July 07, and it's still working perfectly. The cartridge that it came with must have been relatively new, since it has yet to run out.

I have it on all the OS X machines, and my eMachines (with XP) had it connected before its power supply went all stupid-like.

The toner cartridge that's in mine is an HP LaserJet cartridge, so I'd assume (but don't quote me on this) that they'll work in the 4/600.

The 4/600 and 320 use the same toners. I used to have both (but got rid of them because localtalk is a pain on modern machines).

My 12/640 PS only had 6200 pages on it when I picked it up off ebay a few years back. Came with the 500 sheet cassette and duplexer. 😛

Nice find though, and you can't beat the price. I have a 4/600 and its a dang nice printer.

If that's the case, then cartridges are (relatively) dirt cheap. I remember looking on eBay back in November, and seeing some for $15, buy-it-now.

If only I could get mine to play nice with CUPS. *sigh*

I got it up and running yesterday...what a great machine!!! Not as fast as the bigger ones but the output is excellent.
