Hey there ! I have word 5.1 and 98 on my 6500, when I double click a .doc document, it opens in word 5.1 and it's really getting to annoy me. what do I do so that it opens up in word 98 by default when I double click it?

One might suggest that, if you do not use 5.1 to open docs, that you remove it from your drive. If that is more extreme than you wish to be, there are two other possibilities. First, open the app. first, and then the doc. from within the app., and second, scour the Preferences of '98 to see whether the 5.1 docs can be converted to any special '98 requirements.

A two step fix, I think.
1. Rebuild the desktop file. This won't achieve anything in itself but...
2. Duplicate the Word 98 application. Delete the original.
Then try opening a Word doc.
