Posted by: shred on 2008-03-12 18:27:19 The "pirate" cartridge could be faulty. You might like to try sitting it on a damp paper towel for a while in case the nozzles are blocked (hint - put it in a laundry tub or a bucket - it might stain the surface the paper is on).
I once had a "Frankenstein" StyleWriter I... in other words, I made one good one from two faulty ones.
I found out the hard way that there are two versions of the StyleWriter I mechanism. The gear that "parks" the print head cap is different. One black in colour, the other silver/grey and each with a different number of teeth. The result in my case was that brand new cartridges ran out of ink *very* quickly because they were not being capped by the printer and were drying out. Swapping the ROM chips fixed the problem (you need the ROM that "knows" the type of gear in your printer).

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2008-03-26 22:54:17 Don't know if your problem has been resolved, but I would recommend buying a Canon cartridge. I think it's the BC-02 or something like that which will work in a SW/SWII. It might be the BC-01...it's been a long time since I've had to replace one of these.
