| Games you'd like to see ported to Apple II... |
Posted by: returningmacuser on 2008-03-08 13:16:16 It's no secret that the Apple II was Apple's best computer for gaming, but I feel that there are some games that really deserved a port to the platform that never made it on. These are mostly european games. The Apple II was never very popular in europe. People over there were mostly playing with their superior Spectrums and CPCs and never gave this supposedly weak little machine a chance.
And it's really a shame that they didn't. It would have been really nice to see games like Chuck Rock, 3D Construction Kit, Stunt Car Racer, Lemmings (why was it never ported?), Manic Miner, Turrican, Hard Drivin' (at least I'D like to see it on the A2. 😛 ), M. U. L. E, and so many others on the A2.
Oh well. I guess you can't have everything. What are some of the games you'd like to see ported?

Posted by: II2II on 2008-03-08 14:07:59 The Apple II already has the finest game every made (IMHO): Applesoft BASIC. (Seriously. I spent a lot of my childhood with Applesoft BASIC and the Commodore 64 BASIC.)

Posted by: MacMan on 2008-03-08 15:34:59 It is true that the Apple II's primary gaming stronghold was in America. At that time the top end computer for the UK was probably the BBC Micro which had countless well known and obscure games written for it.

Posted by: Aoresteen on 2008-04-02 12:17:17 I'd like to see a Zelda game on the IIe. Or Super Mario Brothers.

At that time the top end computer for the UK was probably the BBC Micro which had countless well known and obscure games written for it. The Beeb had probably the best 8 bit Basic you could get in those days. That's why so much was released for it. Even an amateur could write a decent looking program.
You can still get BBC BASIC for many platforms today

Can you imagine the amount of floppy disks required, swapping had to be done, speed and performance issue to port those games!! BUT IT WOULD BE UNBELIEVABLY awesome to see that happening! Can you imagine online support on those

http://everylemming.blogspot.com/2007/12/unofficial-lemmings-apple-ii-gs.html Here's a link to a downloadable copy of LemminGS from the guys who developed the game for the GS.

You can either run this on a GS emulator or transfer it to your GS to play on the real hardware.
Have fun!
