bought a brand new intel imac core 2 duo 17 inch

i was going for a 20 inch aluminium imac

but i saw this white monster for 899 blow out price because it was the last one they had in stock and i went for that

so far i am happy withit apart from that damn build in i sight camera

Nice one. I do prefer the white ones as they have the matte screen as opposed to the glossy one. It is much more suitable for photo editing, which is what I do.

i do like this as wel mostly because i have been using the form factor for almost 2 years now

the specs of the alu imac 20 inch imac and this one were the same apart from the size of the screen and the hd

i have a 250 gig sata drive so all i would gain was 3 inches of screen real estate and thats not worth 300 extra to me

even better this machine has the old keyboard which i have been looking for for a while

the only other thing i do not like is that i have to disasamble my whole imac to replace the hard drive

Yeah dude the iSight G5's are the same, take the front casing off, take the LCD out, be careful of the iSight cable, take the speakers out, and you are almost in, thats as far as I got. I also just wanted to see the innards.

my G5 is a ambient light sensor imac and there you just have to remove the back plane to get to the guts of the imac

why apple chanced it to this is beyond me

They probably didn't like people tampering with the inside. Greedy bastards.

or mor elike they can charge high mark up prices for labor costs and apple certified parts because most people have to bring the imac in now
