5 new powerbook g3's
Posted by: Patnukem on 2008-02-21 00:40:42
I gos an auction that was cheap for 5 g3 powerbooks they just need ac adapters and hard drives, I got them for a good deal from else where. When I got the laptops today they were in better condition then the auction made them out to be in. 4 wallstreets and a bronze. I also found several sticks of memory that was not listed on the auction as well as a working battery for the wallstreet, and one that last about 20 min for the lombard. I think I will have to get rid of a couple after I fix them up. I feel so great surounded by these little black machines!

That sounds like a nice bunch of machines. I do think the G3s are much sexier than the floor tile Powerbooks that came after. You can do so much with them, too. Sounds like they came pretty complete.

Did you get'em on eBay? There's an outfit that's selling laptops in batches. That's where I got a batch of 5, 3 Wallstreets, a Lombard with a broken screen, and a Pismo. But no processors, memory, batteries, hard drives, modems...I've ordered a bunch of innards for the Pismo.

Have you thought about getting artistic on any of them?

No I have found a good way to make the rubber part not as scuffed looking, I used windex and a magic eraser swirling it over the entire surface then wiping it dry when it is still wet with a dry paper towel in a swirl pattern. It leaves them very nice looking. Unfortunately I am only going to keep one or two of them.
