Posted by: Apostrophe on 2008-02-15 14:04:44 I'm on my iMac G3, and I want to set up my email to use Outlook Express. When it asks me what server I'm using for my email, I'm at a loss. It says that POP servers are most common, so when I selected that option, it asked me to name the server. How do I find out?
Thanks,

Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2008-02-15 16:39:38 Are you paying for Yahoo's "Yahoo! Mail Plus" level of service? If not, then you can't use anything other than the web mail interface.
If you *ARE* paying for Mail Plus, then you want:
POP3 server
incoming server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
user name: (your Yahoo ID, basically your email address minus the "@yahoo.com" bit.)
password: Hopefully you know this.
You will also have to do the advanced settings, and turn on 'outgoing server authentication'.

Unless you have their "Mail Plus" service you can't access your email through POP (or IMAP). If you have that, it's easy enough to set up and there are tutorials on that site (even one for OE Mac).

Do you have OSX installed on that iMac? If so, try using the Mail app to get your Yahoo email. I have it set up this way on my Pismo and iPod Touch 2G; it works great. I just have the free mail account, grandfathered a couple of times over.
