During the summer last year I had to put some of my computer stuff in storage at a friend's shop. I finally got it back out tonight.
It's a PowerMac 6100/66 with:
- 72MB RAM
- 4GB hard disk
- either a 2x or 4x CD-ROM drive (don't know which yet)
- A/V PDS card
- NuPowr G3/240mhz processor card
- Either 8.1, 8.5 or 9.04 installed
It's missing one of the 'feets'.
This one was given to me a few years ago by the owners of Computer Options, which has sadly went bust. They also gave me my G3 MT.
Considering my Beige G3 is out of commission at the moment (no HD, memory and no extra RAM for it), this is my last Classic Mac.
I also have an Apple Multisync 17" monitor in there too, but I have no room to put it at the moment.
In my stash of parts I have the AAUI-Ethernet adapter, an external 4x2x6 SCSI CD-RW and an 18GB 68-pin 10k RPM hard disk with the necessary adapters to make it connect to a 50-pin cable. I just don't know if the power supply can handle the drive.

that last point brings up an interesting question: what RPM were those old SCSI drives? 4200?
but grats on the re-acquisition, my family's first powermac was a 6100/66 and it lasted a little over 10 years as a daily machine before the power supply went out.

I can't remember what RPM the hard disk that is currently in it is running at. It's definitely not the original one which was a 2GB drive, so I'm guessing 5400 or 7200.
If memory serves me it's labeled as an Acer part, but is actually an IBM drive converted from 68-pin to 50-pin.

There used to be one somewhere when I was at school, I remember using it. However, I've never been able to lay my hands on one for the collection - maybe some day.

Now that I actually have it in the house instead of my car's trunk, it has a 2GB Apple/IBM hard disk and a 4x CD-ROM drive. Still not too bad. I"ll have to get the keyboard from work to try it out.

ive got a 6100/66 that i was given for free. im running system 7.6 on it, and its awesome to play with!

Good:
So far it works!
Has MacOS 8.1 installed
Has NuPowr extension installed so it's running at 240mhz with 1MB cache running at 160mhz. Sweeeet! [8D]
Bad:
Needs clock battery
Video is stuck at 640x480 on a 17" LCD panel capable of 1280x1024. Even 800x600 would be really nice. 🙂
AAUI adapter is at work, so no Ethernet at the moment.
