| OMG Apple II Web Server !!1!!!1!!!1!11!11!1!111 |
Posted by: luddite on 2008-02-12 23:43:24 Don't get excited it's pretty lame... but since it came up in the lounge, here's my Apple II Web Server!
At the moment it's running on a IIgs @ 2.6 MHz. I'll keep it running until it blows up, or it gets boring. Since there's no file system support in the A2 Contiki port I'm stuck with the default pages (which are hard-coded into the app)... maybe if I get really ambitious I'll see about messing with that.
Enjoy!

If I can figure out how to hack the default pages, I'll likely host it on a IIe.

Posted by: ChristTrekker on 2008-02-13 06:26:44 Coolness, even if the page doesn't load right now. I want to try Contiki sometime, just for the geek value. I'd love to have a *nix port of its web browser.

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2008-02-13 08:33:14 The II+ would be great...an almost 30 year old web server!!! (Which I think would be older than the majority of people on this board).

Posted by: MacMan on 2008-02-13 12:25:53 Very nice! How long 'til the BBS is running on it? 😛

Very nice! How long 'til the BBS is running on it? 😛 Not possible at this time... really though, it's a shame no one's developing apps with uIP for the Apple II. It would be pretty sweet to at least have a functional telnet client, and I'm sure a BBS wouldn't be an enormous stretch.

Posted by: bigD on 2008-02-13 15:23:24 That is rediculously pimp.

Don't get excited it's pretty lame... Aw, not that lame. 🙂 I tried from work, but evidently they block port 6502. Go figure! Works great at home!

Posted by: luddite on 2008-02-13 20:27:53 I was able to change the page colours just by editing the program file with Text Wrangler, so there's hope for making the thing semi-useful. First time out it crashed immediately, but seems to be working now...

It could actually run on a ][+ Looks like I'm wrong about this... the webserver is only included on the 80-column version which requires an enhanced IIe, so only 25 years old ;-)

Posted by: TheNeil on 2008-02-14 01:17:51 Only 25 years old? That's the same age as my other half...and she certainly couldn't host a web site 😉

Posted by: returningmacuser on 2008-03-01 14:16:18 Hi. Being the very person who requested this web server, I am very pleased with your work. I hope that one day you can serve Apple II games with Applelet. 😀
Oh, and if the FTA is reading this, make sure to get a Java version of your emulator out, pronto! Preferably one with Java 1.3 support. :b&w:
