| AMD Athlon XP (gonna sell for $200) |
Posted by: coius on 2008-02-05 21:35:45 Well, after getting done ordering the new board for this project, my friend called me and said "Do you have any spare PCs I could buy? Mine died..."
Anyways, since I got all these parts lying around, I will be getting $200 after making a deal with him.
He Gets:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (1.8Ghz) that is going to be overclocked to 2.0Ghz (make it a round number 😛 )
1GB (2x 512MB) DDR-400 RAM.
PC-CHIPs Motherboard (400Mhz FSB)
ATI Radeon 9550 128MB AGP 8x
100GB ATA/133 HDD
Generic PC Case (Cleaned up from the last person)
DVD/CD-RW (Lite-on)
CD-RW (52x48x52) Polaroid CD-RW (huh? they made these?)
Windows XP SP2 Upgrade (from my 2k Pro, i will be giving him that, and a Windows XP SP2 Upgrade I got from someone)
AT-Style Keyboard (see This thread. Somewhat like mine, types like a Model-M 😀 )
CRT Sony Trinitron Monitor (goes up to 1600x1200@85Hz) (I got this free, I hate CRTs)
And of course, a Microsoft mouse
I will be sure to post the pic of the $200 😛

Posted by: coius on 2008-02-06 13:23:37 I got my board today (PC-CHIPS SiS chipset) and installed it. And you know, there's ALWAYS something overlooked when you put together a machine from scratch. Well, I put both CD-RW's on the same SLAVE setting. Sorted out and she's off and running.
Oh, and during the writing of this. a problem developed. The harddrive won't erase ^_^ ;; So I will get right on it. I will post when I have the machine fully up and running!

Posted by: coius on 2008-02-06 14:44:26 Hint: don't use Windows XP installer disc to format a *nix formatted disc. it doesn't like it. I had to pop it into my desktop PC and then format it that way. It works now, but I am just saying...

Posted by: coius on 2008-02-06 19:13:18 as you can see, i need to clean up the inside. There are wires everywhere in it, but I will be tie-wrapping those up (well, once that can be tie-wrapped)
Other stuff needs to be done such as Anti-Virus put on it and whatnot...
