| New PowerBook G3! (Wallstreet) |
Posted by: jdmoser on 2015-01-31 12:06:53 I just acquired a 14" PowerBook G3 233 MHz (Wallstreet) as an alternative to my Beige G3 tower for making floppies for my older Macs.
It's a beauty for sure ( picture! http://i.imgur.com/ArTwpmQ.jpg) ... it's in excellent shape. Just thought I would share it, but if there's any advice on how to make it faster and beefier, I'm all ears. The hard drive in particular feels really sluggish.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2015-01-31 12:14:04 A newer 40GB IDE drive will speed things up (originals were 4-8GB I think). I have a few Wallstreets and they are so easy to work on. The original 233 used a dual scan 800x600 screen that sucks. newer models used a 14 and 13" screen 1024x768. There are zip drive and LS120 drives that fit in the floppy drive/cdrom port. You can have 512MB RAM (2x256MB PC100). Early units can do 83FSB while later ones are stuck at 66 so you can do 292Mhz or 300mhz CPUs.

Good to know about the hard drive. I suspected that would be an easy swap.
