Initializing hard drive in 7.5
Posted by: meall on 2008-01-26 13:34:07
Hi,

I have a few performa 6115CD. One of them looks to have a HD failure, why may be true, but the other had a working drive. Then, I wanted to reinitialize it as I found it was partition in 2. I fired up Apple SC HD 7.5, but this utility did not recognize the HD. It may not be an Apple original HD, I do not know.

Then I tried the Apple SC HD for A/UX. It started the initialize correctly, but then faille and since it is saying to be the HD is just bad.

Is there any other Application/utility that can be use to initialize an HD?

I also have a PM G3 beige, with an internal SCSI connector running OS 9, maybe hooking the drive to the beige and using OS 9 to reformat could help, but I'm not sure.

Any idea?

Hi,

I finally found my solution! I inserted my OS 8 CD in it, then used the Disk Utility on the CD, and the drive came back to life!

Thanks for having read!

I plugged the (what I believe is a failed) drive in my G3, and it was not even recognized.

On the Performa it is recognize, but when I try to initialize it, the OS 8 tool told me that it is a HDD too big for HFS...

The drive is a 2.5 Gb (ST32550M) from what I search, so that should not be too big
