Also, i remember there being a control panel (I'm running OS 7.5.3 Revision 2.2) that asked if I would like to use MacTCP or Open Transport, but i cant find it?
| Posted by: Unknown_K on 2008-01-20 15:45:23 Try reinstalling the Asante drivers manually including the control panel. Open transport came out of the 7.5.2 OEM cd for the first PCI powermacs, but I am not sure what standard OS release it was included in. Maybe you need 7.5.5, I know 7.6.1 has it.
| Posted by: equill on 2008-01-20 19:02:47 Even if you are using the Asanté EtherTalk Installer diskette v5.6.1 (the latest), it is wise, and Asanté themselves made the point, to install their software first, and then OT 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. This makes sure that no older software can replace the necessary files installed with OT.
If you go here you will see that Asanté distinguishes between its AsantéFAST cards according to controller make. They presumably know their own products, and it is worth your while to make sure that the software for your card is in accord with their protocol, too.
I use more than 20 Asanté cards (and a few from Apple) throughout my LAN, and they give no trouble.
