| Convert MacWrite Document? |

Anyone know of a good way to convert a MacWrite document into something modern? I have a MacWrite doc that I can read on my SE using MacWrite, but it won't convert it to anything but text (I'd like to preserve formatting.)
I can't get AbiWord, OppenOffice or AppleWorks to open the document.

Copy the text to TeachText and feed that file into another Mac. You lose formatting but preserve the content.

Find yourself a copy of WriteNow 4, which has filters for conversion of MacWrite to RTF, from which you can go where you please, including MS Word.

MacWrite can save the document as a text file, so I can do that, but I was hoping to preserve the formatting.

If you've got a newer OS on there (7+) you can use SimpleText, that will do the trick.

RTF is a format-preserving file format, developed specifically for file interchange.

RTF is a format-preserving file format I wasn't brushing off your post, my comment "so I can do that" (lose formating but keep content) was in regard to the TeachText suggestion. You and I posted at approximately the same time; I hadn't seen your post yet.
Usually I quote to avoid such confusion, but since there weren't any other posts (so I thought) I forwent quoting.
RTF will do the trick - thanks for the links.

I don't know exactly what system you are using with your SE, but in a nutshell the 7.0 and above LaserWriter driver will print a Preview compatible PostScript file. This should preserve your document exactly as it appears on the SE, bit-mapped fonts and all. Once you have it in Preview, or Adobe PDF you can print it, or copy it to another document.
This was one of those problems that really made me crazy since I did not want to have to support a laser printer specifically for my Mac 128K.
