I saw this on eBay, and I'm not sure what this is. It's quite local to me, about 5 miles, but I have no intention of bidding. It it Apple A/UX? Maybe someone with more knowledge of apple boxes could explain?
| Posted by: Cory5412 on 2008-01-18 19:45:05 It's an X11 environment for like System 7, it can be used to run graphical UNIX apps from another box, like a Sun system. The biggest advantage of that, of course, is that you can buy one Sun box with one cool X11-based app (or a custom-written app even) and have a bunch of Macs on the same ethernet network with the ability to use that app.

This would then allow a Mac to operate as a thin-net client (well strictly speaking it was the 'server' end) in a network where Unix servers delivered applications via the X11 protocol.
