In the almost 15 years in which I have been using Macintosh computers I have never encountered this until this afternoon. If i may ask, what the hell happened? When it came up with that it told me that File Sharing could not be enabled...but normally when it does that it doesn't come up with strange text in the background. And if you're wondering, nope, I don't have MacsBug installed, which is why this took me by surprise. I'm running a Performa "6260" (5260 mobo in a 630 case) with 48MB of RAM, Mac OS 8.6, and an Apple CS1 ethernet card.
For the record, I've never seen this since, though I fixed the problem with File Sharing by cleaning out a dodgy prefs file. The machine is running fine, I'm just really curious as to whether anyone has encountered anything like this before.

Something about witnessing such a thing made me feel dirty inside, as if I had received a BSOD.

| Posted by: LCGuy on 2008-01-12 21:31:02 Nope, not at all. Once i clicked ok on the dialog box it ran like normal. Once I opened the HD (which opened on top of the area where the text was), the text disappeared.
