| Classic software from the Info-Mac Archive |
Posted by: dpaanlka on 2007-12-06 08:35:30 I'd like to share with you all, who may use the Info-Mac archive frequently or find MIT's HyperArchive frustrating to dig through, that we've re-Launched the "official" Info-Mac this week, and it includes the complete archive in a nice format thats easy to search, and can be posted to:
The Info-Mac Archive
We're still going to keep it closed to new software as VersionTracker and MacUpdate take good care of that, but the old stuff is hard to find and not only is the MIT HyperArchive slowly falling apart, but they've indicated to me that they wish to close it soon.
So don't worry, we still have it all!

Posted by: equant on 2007-12-06 20:12:43 I'm glad someone is taking care to keep this archive online, but I'm not to thrilled with the forum interface. Not that the original MIT interface is great. Honestly, you can't expect someone interested in the info-mac archive to embrace a *new* interface can you? 😉
It seems to work ok with a few of the older browsers I tried btw.
Thanks for hosting it.

Posted by: dpaanlka on 2007-12-06 20:18:42 I didn't intend the forum version to work with older browsers. I think people interested in the old Info-Mac Archive stuff (such as ourselves) are a very different market from the people who might be interested in Mac OS X discussion and file sharing. I'm trying to capture a little bit of both, hopefully it works out.
Either way, the old-fashioned archive is located here:
http://archive.info-mac.org
And that does work in old browsers [😀] ]'> which is great for when I'm using System 7.

I didn't intend the forum version to work with older browsers. Well, it does anyway, guess you'll just have to live with yourself.
Either way, the old-fashioned archive is located here: Hmmm... On second thought.... I'm not using that.
Seriously though, thanks for the effort and hosting.
