USB2 card, blinkenlight USB2 hub
Posted by: quinterro on 2007-12-02 09:51:47
I've been looking for a USB2 PC Card that would work with my Lombard for a long time. I finally found one at a local computer store with an NEC chipset for $16. They also had a box of 7-port USB2 hubs for $8 each. I bought one of those also.

After connecting the wall wart to the hub and plugging it in, I discovered that there is a bright LED behind each USB port. There is a 4-color one in the middle of the hub as well that cycles through several color changes. There's no switch to turn off the LEDs. Pictures don't do it justice. [😀] ]'>

I thought I had a working USB2/Firewire PC Card based off of an Ali chipset, but it wouldn't recognize anything plugged into the card so I had to return it.

Nice!

Out of curiosity, which store?

Intrex Computers. Basically a small chain of computer stores in the RDU and Triad areas of North Carolina. This particular one was off of Wake Forest Rd in Raleigh.

I am going to tell you right now, there is nothing wrong with LEDs on a computer. I can't get enough of em. there is one on the monitor, one on the mac, one on the webcam, 4 on my DSL modem (5 when wifi is active), 2 on my PS2, one on each of my USB hubs (2 of them), three on my printer (though only one is on unless there is a problem), 3 on my la fonera, and don't forget the bright blue one on each end of my USB cable for my printer.

sorry, I love me some LED action.

oh, I paid the same price for my PCI USB 2 4_1 card. it's sweet, has 4 external, and one internal, which houses my bluetooth module, so I have internal bluetooth 😀

oh and my USB card also has a NEC chipset. Can't go wrong with them, work in both OS X and OS 9. Mine was an off brand one though.

-digital 😉

Found a link to the USB blinkenlight hub. 🙂

Mine is similar but has a blue case. Again, pictures don't do it justice. 🙂
