two "new" Powerbooks 😛 Got each for 20 €.
First one is a PB G4 17" 1Ghz. Sold as broken/not starting, turned out to be a dead AC adapter.
case is so so, some bumps here and there, all the rubber foots missing, some dark spots on the screen, also one usb port seems deceased.
But it work nicely, and i love these showoff 17" PowerBooks. (btw, still looking for any cheap 12" Bibilit)

second one, more interesting. my first PB170. Also sold as dead/not booting. i went in the 16e Paris arrondissement (for peoples who know the place 🙂 to get it. It's a first-hand, the man told me he almost never used it. And indeed the thing was in a nice carrying bag with the AC block. And like Brand new ! Not a scratch, clean plastic, even that back ports door still there.
And there also the AC adapter was the problem, it booted with a another one. But bad HD , I booted it on a Zip.

(Btw, strange to see a Mac screen with white/clear surround, first time i see that)
I was able to start the HD 3 or 4 times by disassembling the machine and shocking the HD on each sides on a table, then reassembling and go. was able to recover all the games on that HD 🙂 But had to keep the HD busy, cause each time the head would go in resting position it would stuck there… Zombie HD, can't do anything with it.
Question : I don't have much experience with these PB1xx machines, I've read here about the AztecMonster as replacement to 2.5" SCSI drives, are there any other alternatives (cheaper ?) to these ? | Posted by: massiverobot on 2014-09-09 13:17:06 No but I use the 2.5 AztecMonster with a 2GB CF card for by PB180 and it works flawlessly. It's worth it to not have the noise and the chance that the drive will just die with no warning.
