What's a 15" iMac G4 worth?
Posted by: stevep on 2007-10-17 20:28:15
Would $350.00 be reasonable? Includes original disks, KB and mouse that have not been used. :-/

Unless it's the last 15" model (1GHz CPU, USB2.0) and has a RAM upgrade, it'd be hard say $350 is a good price. If you're the seller and you can get $350 for it, that's great. But if you're a buyer, or if you're an owner and you're trying to figure out how to price it, I'd say $300 max unless it's got unusual upgrades or extras. For an older 15" model I'd say $250 is more realistic.

I looked at the value of mine on fleabay and decided that, as I bought mine new, it was worth more to me as an alarm clock and music player and sexy early 21st century design icon than it was to someone else.

I would say that is a fairly reasonable price, but it really depends on what the Canadian market is like for these. The specs are good enough to run Tiger and even Leopard, (with a hack), which is good if someone's looking for a cheap starter system. The fact that the KB and mouse are unused is a great bonus as many second-hand machines have peripherals that have been thrashed like a hire car.

I should have this iMac this week, possibly with the original speakers too! I appreciate the feedback. I'll let you all know how it goes....

Oh, for some reason I was under the impression that you were the seller! Sounds like a good deal though, you won't be disappointed!

Well, I now have this iMac home with me. Works great, needs some cleaning as it comes from a smokers home (yuk). But at least now I have one of each size screen! Talk about obsessive....

yes you are ;p

stil if you like them

i do like them but they are too expensive where i live for the specs on offer

a 800 mhz is stil in the 300 400 range here let alone the higher ones

800mhz is going to be worth a bit more than 700mhz and not just for the CPU speed. The 700mhz was the stripped down model and the 800mhz was the upgraded model with Superdrive and other extras.

the 700 isnt much cheaper

What products are safe for cleaning the case? The book that comes with it says refer to Mac Help but I am unable to find any info there on the subject.
