ATTO Silicon Express II
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2007-09-19 13:57:09
My SE II Nubus 50 pin SCSI card came in today. I noticed it has a big old 68000 CPU of its own onboard. Anybody have a driver for this card? Also was there a SE I and SE III card as well (never heard of them)?

The ATTO Express A/V Control Panel requires an ATTO SiliconExpress II/3D/IV/4D FAST SCSI-2 accelerator.
This implies that the "SiliconExpress" driver we commonly use with the SE-IV is the correct control panel for this card as well, since the A/V Utility is the same between the two.

It also implies that the SE-III existed, but was actually just the differential-SCSI version of the SE-II.

I'm guessing the SE-II is a disk-controller-only board much like the SE-IV. If so, you might get some luvvin from the formatting utilities on my website.

I used the SE IV drivers on the SE II and they worked fine, the utility I used to format the SE IV drives works fine with the older SE II as well (it shows the drives attached to the card anyway). I tested it using an external 500MB quantum fireball and got something like 5MB/sec tranfer rate.

That's really awesome! Thanks for reporting your results.

Yea, it worked out. But I would still love to have the original driver disk for that card someday.
