Posted by: CaryMG on 2007-09-19 08:06:38 It looks like it's working again with screenshots, downloads, BBS, etc.
Just a headsup > "Macintosh Garden"

Posted by: MacMan on 2007-09-19 15:19:34 Aah, the Macintosh Garden... such a wonderful site! Unfortunately it's not very 68k Mac / browser friendly - certainly my Quadra nearly always freezes up while loading the site's pages.

Posted by: madmax_2069 on 2007-09-20 02:04:20 humm my 68k (Performa 475) goes to it just fine. i use icab to do most of the browsing on it. but it can be a memory hog and dont like it if you dont allocate enough ram to it. since i have 132mb ram i can push up the memory allocation a bit and it seems to act allot better than with it at the stock setting.
i have ran accost sites that locked the system up totally to where i have to force restart it
its to bad MG hasn't got anything fixed, seems as tho there host isn't listening and dont care

Posted by: Quadraman on 2007-09-20 03:29:49 You do realize this qualifies as a warez site as many of the programs they have for download are still under copyright, right? Legally, there is no such as abandonware until the owner of the copyright signs a release placing the work in the public domain. It doesn't matter if the copyright holder doesn't publish or update the software for 20 years, they still own it and downloading it is still illegal.

Posted by: joshc on 2007-09-20 08:54:51 Quadraman - Then go ahead and try to find the developer for every piece of software on that website and tell them. Good luck.
The website hasn't changed - It's still very slow and clunky. Shame they can't move it to some real servers and restart it from scratch.
|
Posted by: Quadraman on 2007-09-20 12:29:39 I'm just saying it because of the potential liability to ~tl for allowing links to it to be posted here against the rules relating to that sort of thing.
|
Posted by: MacMan on 2007-09-20 14:13:08 I've only ever tried loading Macintosh Garden on my Quadra 700 which only has 20MB of RAM in it, which is probably where the problem lies.

Posted by: FerazelX on 2007-09-24 21:33:44 Of course, the SPAMMER still owns the forum.
|
Posted by: madmax_2069 on 2007-09-24 23:16:14 if you want 68k games with spam on the side, MG is the place to go.
but like it say's on there site. if the developer dont want it up they can ask them to remove it and they will. and it will get added to the list of software not allowed on there.

Posted by: CaryMG on 2007-09-25 07:49:25 In a pinch you can use this > "Greniers Du Mac"

Posted by: benjgvps on 2007-09-25 15:15:11 That website looks promising. I hope I can actually extract the files from this website.
EDIT: I could get simcity and flight simulator expanded, though flight simulator was a diskdup+ file and simcity was a non-working .img file. I am very unlucky with Macintosh games. If anybody has a simcity disk image I would be the happiest person for a while.

Posted by: Franklinstein on 2007-09-27 03:51:09 Hecks YES! Alls I ever had to play on my lovelies were SimWhatever games, Oregon Trail, Duke Nukem, and the first Warcraft. Now I have even more ways to waste my day, so long as the downloads work. I have a copy of SimCity 1.4c, but I don't think it likes System 7.5. Maybe it would cooperate better with 6.0.8 or 7.1. Perhaps I should try Basilisk and see if that makes it work.
