Grabbed another Craigslist find - Power Macintosh 7100/66 with HPV PDS card, 15" MultiScan Monitor, Extended Keyboard II and mouse for $5. Nice find really, however I've never liked the 7100's case plus all the ones I've owned seemed to have rust going on. What's this one like?
P.S. here's what you could do with all your iMacs 😛

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-01 17:42:38 It is dirty, yellow and appears to have a near-dead, 250 MB Quantum Pro Drive in it but works well. I't summer time so I'll be giving it a good retrobrite dunk and cleaning it out.

Posted by: Strimkind on 2012-07-01 18:17:09 Small conquest today.
LC475 no idea on the RAM and a 80MB Quantum Prodrive ELS. The unit is in pretty good overall condition without even dust.
It also came with keyboard, mouse, software, and a 12x non-Apple CDROM.
This guy owned it since 1995 or thereabouts.
$15 plus 30 minutes travel...not bad.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-13 10:20:09 Well, a Macintosh II that I bought a couple of weeks ago arrived today. I was kind of stoked to be getting an original II in good shape. I opened it up and found ...

It's been upgraded from the original 68020 🙁

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-13 11:34:47 Would this be the original 16MHz 68020 for this machine - http://bit.ly/LVmGZX ? The other socket next to the processor is for the MMU which was an upgrade option, correct?

Posted by: Bunsen on 2012-07-15 02:21:37 You found a surprise Daystar 030(?) accelerator, and you're 🙁 about it?

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2012-07-15 10:04:32 😎 Can you get really HighRes pics of that PowerCache Mac II Adapter and buzz some connections?
I lost the IIcx Adapter I got for reserch purposes back in the day of the Shreve Systems Blowout. :'(
I'm fairly sure the CoPro was standard in the II, but the MMU was definitely an upgrade, you needed that and the 1.44 Floppy Upgrade ROMs for Mac II Rocketability.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-15 16:36:14 Want to borrow it instead? I'd be down for that if you'd like.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2012-07-15 19:00:12 Thanks, that's very generous and it might come to that, but some really good pics might be all that's necessary for the project. [😉] ]'>

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-16 09:16:46 Alright. I don't know if these are good enough for what you need but here are a couple of iPhone snaps. If you need better, I can dig out the camera and take a couple more.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-16 12:12:41 I received a //c monitor from theretrogamingroom today. A quick retrobrite dip on the monitor and my //c will finally be complete!

My best High School friend had one of these in '87 and I've loved the look of them ever since.

Well, a Macintosh II ... It's been upgraded from the original 68020 🙁 Would that interfere with the testing of ASFS 2.0 for the II, SE and Plus?
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-16 19:55:03 I wouldn't think so but I don't know yet.

Alright. I don't know if these are good enough for what you need but here are a couple of iPhone snaps. Those are dang good shots for a phone! That's plenty enough to mull over for a bit. Does that thing plug into both the CPU and MMU Sockets? :?:
The only PowerCache adapter I've found that uses no ICs at all is the one for the LCIII. Noodling out what conversions get done for which slot assignments or CPU pins is a back burner project, as is finding my '030 PDS comparison spreadsheet . . . I know it's on a few of the HDDs scattered about the old systems!
My best High School friend had one of these in '87 and I've loved the look of them ever since. I researched the shiznit out of the //c, Laser 128, Commodore 128 and the ColeCo Adam as replacements for my Commodore 64 back in the day. Wound up buying a POS Tandy 1000sx with a CGA Monitor and DOS semi-compatibility instead of CPM compatibility. I'm glad I went the way for I did for the OS . . .
. . . but the Hardware . . . :🙂
Is that a KayPro sittin' there?
< . . . clicks pic . . . >
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does that thing plug into both the CPU and MMU Sockets? Yep.
Is that a KayPro sittin' there? Yep. Kaypro II. There's a TRS-80 Model III next to it. Both of them came out of a dumpster, believe it or not.

Does that thing plug into both the CPU and MMU Sockets? Yep. How very interesting . . . that makes sense . . . seeing the signals split between the two sockets may even prove to be enlightening . . . hrmmm?
Both of them came out of a dumpster . . . From anyone else, probably not . . .
Wow!! The Force is strong with this one 🙂 Concur . . . [😉] ]'>

The only PowerCache adapter I've found that uses no ICs at all is the one for the LCIII. The adapter for the IIcx has no logic on it. Plugs into the 030 socket rather than the PDS.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2012-07-17 21:53:29 Now that you mention it, ISTR something along those lines.
It frustrates me every time I see the empty B my IIcx adapter came NI from Shreve. :-/

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-24 09:21:47 Found a, external, caddy-load CD150 in the trash. It just ejects the caddy, though so I guess it's time to take it apart.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-07-25 21:40:14 Yesterday, I ended up buying a working 800k, 20MB HDD, 4MB RAM Mac SE, a non-op PowerBook G4 12" 1.5 GHz, a working PowerBook G4 12" 1.33 GHz, a working but slightly bent PowerBook G4 15" 1.25 GHz and a couple of fixable infocus projectors for $65.
Then this morning I found a working SE logic board with 4MB RAM in the trash. Very odd as there was nothing else from the machine in there. As luck would have it, I still have an SE that is the victim of an exploded battery and needs a logic board.
