1/2 AA battery Replacement! MoewToast Rev. 2
Posted by: jmacz on 2023-04-15 22:40:53
I would hope the CR2032 should be fine as most other manufacturer‘s motherboards have used coin cell batteries for cmos for a long time. Plus with the meowtoast, it’s easy to swap out the batteries.

I’ve just ordered a 5 pack to a hotel in Colorado I’ll be going to at the weekend so they should be there to pick up. That’s one way to beat the international shipping.

So the parcel came all the way to the hotel and then got returned to sender because the recipient wasn’t recognised or some crap. Even though the hotel said it was fine to have it sent here and even made a note on my booking. So a waste of money and … really confusing.
Not feeling so smug anymore. 🙁

Guests can never receive personal packages at hotels, need to find a local friend for that.

What do you mean? According to who?
They said it would be fine.
A quick Google search seems to indicate it’s a normal thing to do here, which is what I thought.

I guess it depends, I have inquired the possibility before and it was not doable in the US. I have seen hotel policies that state that you cannot get postal deliveries. I suppose they don't want any responsibility for late/missed deliveries, or to become a package storage facility. I should not have said "never".

In this case the hotel is a friendly small town guesthouse and they were more than happy to receive and hold my package, I asked them in advance.

The tracking shows ‘delivered in/at mailbox’ and then immediately afterwards ‘addressee unknown’. I wonder what happened there.

Just put in an order 🙂 looking forward to giving them a try!

Also put in an order for the LCD bracket. Going to see if I can use it in a leftover SE/30 case that I have (original computer went into a MacEffects case years ago), and pair it with a Raspberry Pi. @Geekybit is there a good LCD panel that you recommend using with it?

The seller helpfully sent out the MeowToasts again, this time to my cousin in Seattle. She’s confirmed they’ve arrived, so I will be picking them up soon 🙂

As some have requested I have made a battery Clip to go with the meowToast Rev 2 and Rev 3 it is a little bit of a lose fit but it works great here are links to it on my etsy store. You can get them here https://www.etsy.com/listing/1148769299/ , and if you want them with MoewToats you can get those here https://www.etsy.com/listing/1134819572/

There is international shipping for both!View attachment 37089
Would you be able to make the files available for me to print? I just ordered some meowtoasts and they need something to brace them. Unfortunately I didn’t add these to my order when I was in the US and I’m back in England now…

Don't want to hijack, but I have a small pile of original style battery 'clips' if those are of any interest. Welcome back btw. 🙂

Hey, thanks for the welcome! I got back yesterday evening and had the longest sleep I can remember ever having in recent years.

I could probably use some more clips if you have a surplus, though I’d been thinking about getting some new ones printed as they’d be less brittle.

Incidentally, the coin cell battery doesn’t seem to be working with my Beige G3, I did a test where I set the time but then it got reset to 1956 after being unplugged for a few minutes. I believe the MeowToast was making good contact (and the battery is brand new) so perhaps the voltage is too low for the Beige?

I'm not sure about that design (angled battery holder?)... on the original, it works like this (with the battery clip) -
