Have to check to make sure the PRAM battery is gone, seller said he had pulled them from all the macs he had though. It’s got a SCSI drive in it so it might go right into Mac OS once I get a video solution set up.

Dell made a bunch of those too for Latitudes but yet the only dock I've got is a port replicator for a series of HP and Compaq laptops I don't even own any models from lol. Also, I just looked up the specs for the A22p ThinkPad and now I'm really hoping I can get it to work. Apparently these shipped with 1600x1200 displays standard!!!

Posted by: volvo242gt on 2023-06-11 23:07:35 The 7100/66 looks to have the HPV video card in it, which is decent. Does do multisync video up to at least 16-bit. Since the 7100 uses the IIvx style case, if you want the older style auto-inject Sony drive, all you need is one of those with the SE-style floppy drive bracket and the case lid from a P600, IIvi, IIvx, or Centris 650. Did that with the 7100/80 that I owned back in 2000-03...

Did see it open at the meet though, had an IBM SCSI drive and looked clean. No cap leaks yet, will be doing that ASAP though. Not looking forward to the 26 total caps on its logic board though…

Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2023-06-12 08:22:53 Nope. Waiting for a DB15 to VGA adapter with dip switches to come in. This and the IIsi I bought are the oldest desktop macs I own now. Next oldest is a Sawtooth G4. I power tested the 7100 and it chimed, hard disk spun up (has extremely loud bearings) and seemed to be fine. Subsequent attempts started the system too but it never chimed again besides for that first time. Guess we’ll see when the video adapter comes in.

View attachment 57904 Also the video card is the Apple HPV card. *An* Apple HPV card - there are two types 🤣 It will be the type that has 1MB soldered and takes 4x 256k VRAM SIMMs, unless someone pinched one out of an 8100 (the 8100 one has 2MB soldered and takes 4x 512k VRAM SIMMs).

Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2023-06-12 10:07:51 Lots of debombing happening. I’ve so far pulled the batts from the 7100 of course, and also the Latitude C640 and the Tecra. Of course, all the green varta batteries were leaking, even the C640’s which would have been made in 2002. Luckily no horrible damage!

Not looking forward to the 26 total caps on its logic board though… Don't forget the caps on the video card, I've discovered that those are really starting to suffer from cap leaking. I have a pile of dead cards as a result. If it works recap the video card ASAP to keep it working.

The 7100 is a really good machine to tinker with though, good find and highly recommended I hope you can get it working.
