| MacOS 7.7 Prototype Drive Imaging |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-06-22 06:51:45 I didn't even look close at the contents. I can see if it really is a true 7.7 install and make a toast image. |

Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-06-22 07:48:36 That would solve tons of issues! |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-06-22 08:10:36 Just checked, and unless I'm looking at the wrong one, the one on that drive is for 7.6... |
Posted by: Phipli on 2022-06-22 08:11:39 Its in the folder called a2c5. Sorry I'm not being more use. I've done nothing other than sleep work and the necessities for days.
Its a 7.6 installer with a 7.7 updater attached. |

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-06-22 08:51:04 Oh, that's where it says it. Looks like this version is before they even changed the what's new notes. |

Posted by: zefrenchtoon on 2022-06-22 12:31:20 Found some fun in the system file using QuickLook on OSX 😀

gotta love those Easter eggs. Apparently a couple of these guys and gals have patents. |
Posted by: David Cook on 2022-06-22 15:08:54 Since this is a disk image (rather than file copy), has anyone tried running undelete (like from Norton Utilities) to see if there are any other interesting files? |
Posted by: Phipli on 2022-06-22 16:36:34 Excuse the manic flashing. I did a clean install on a Performa 630 (68040).
Seems to work fine.
Should work ok on an LC 475, they are similar machines in some ways. Related memory controller and same processor at least. |
Posted by: jajan547 on 2022-06-22 18:12:56 Wonderful, I am beyond happy to see it. I'm going to do this myself right now. |

How'd you do this just tried off a disk and can't get it to work same symptoms. Did you do a clean install? I ran the installer application and created a brand new System Folder on the 630. |

Did you do a clean install? I ran the installer application and created a brand new System Folder on the 630. I booted from a 7.5 image upgrade to 7.6.1 and then upgraded to 7.7. Did I do something wrong? |

I booted from a 7.5 image upgrade to 7.6.1 and then upgraded to 7.7. Did I do something wrong? I just ran the 7.7 installer straight, while booted from another disk. I used the uncustomised install for the OS and Macintalk, but deselected everything else.
You don't need to install 7.5 or 7.6 first. It sorts everything it needs. |
