| Coolest 68k Powerbooks to own? |
Posted by: theonetruetom on 2024-07-13 12:29:39 I'd cast a vote for a 190 with a 5300c screen swap. But I'm biased. |

Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2024-07-13 14:02:24 I really need to get a 190cs... |

With a full 040 soldered on. Would such a machine run A/UX? |

Would such a machine run A/UX? absolutely not |

absolutely not |

absolutely not How comes? |
Posted by: just.in.time on 2024-07-15 15:35:02 My understanding is that A/UX is very specific about the hardware it will run on. To my knowledge, no PowerBook was ever supported.
That said, you may have some luck getting older Debian versions working. https://wiki.debian.org/M68k/Installing |

Honestly, I'm usually a zealous fanatic about open source and Linux, but for older Macs, the Mac OS is really the best option imo. |

I really need to get a 190cs... yeah, why are they actually so rare..was their production cancelled after the battery bomb cases🙄 |
Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2024-07-18 09:03:37 The battery fires get way overblown, it was around 3 batteries in pre-production. Never made it to consumers. |
