| The 8MB RAM on PDS slot for Macintosh Portable |
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-06-25 21:21:26 It's defective in memory.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-06-26 02:40:10 I set the 7MB RAM on PDS slot of Macintosh Portable M5126 (Backlit),Portable can't boot.

Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-07-01 20:12:29 Hello.
I get 4MB RAM card on RAM slot.
Now,My portable is running.

Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-07-01 20:15:25 Also , I am looking for 7MB RAM card on PDS slot forever.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-07-25 15:21:00 Why PDS slot memory card for M5120 don't move on M5126?
Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-07-29 10:18:06 They are different. One cannot put one in the other, and if you try, bad things can happen.

Posted by: tanaquil on 2016-07-29 13:08:49 Huh, I thought someone earlier in this thread said they should be interchangeable. But I guess the OP's experience indicates otherwise.
Posted by: techknight on 2016-07-29 15:33:54 5120 = Static RAM
5126 = Pseudo-Static RAM.
Nope, original non-PDS cards are NOT compatible.
Posted by: tanaquil on 2016-07-29 18:56:16 But what about the PDS RAM cards?

Posted by: tanaquil on 2016-07-31 13:16:45 Right, but CC_333 is saying that the PDS cards are also incompatible (look at the comment replied to). In your experience, is that correct?
Posted by: techknight on 2016-08-01 14:41:19 Should not be. PDS cards have to generate their own timing and address decoding. So unless the SRAM is at a gross incompatible speed, it should be fine.
and he probably didnt mean PDS. he meant the RAM slot. they are different between the two.

Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-08-02 00:36:12 Yes, I meant RAM slot. PDS RAM cards are quite different, and my understanding is that some degree of interchangeability exists such that a single PDS RAM card should work in either Portable model.

Posted by: tanaquil on 2016-08-02 07:11:27 The OP was asking why his PDS RAM cards aren't working. He was never asking about onboard RAM.
Posted by: techknight on 2016-08-02 17:26:56 All my post was dictating was why 5120 and 5126 RAM cards are NOT interchangeable in the RAM slot. PSRAM requires a refresh signal which isnt present on the 5120.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-08-04 00:28:04 I had heard that the PDS RAM card can use M5120 and M5126. But my PDS RAM card can use only M5120 and I don't use for M5126. I was surprised to know that.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-08-04 00:35:27 I have to look for the PDS RAM card for only M5126.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-08-04 00:56:09 If it's possible to load a memory card of 1GB on Macintosh portable, and Mac OSX can be installed, it'll be quite wonderful.
Posted by: Hisashi Sasaki on 2016-08-04 01:06:48 I use MessagePad 2100 in work even now. If there is a memory 8 mb, it's possible to connect Macintosh portable and this newton in NCU.
