Why PDS slot memory card for M5120 don't move on M5126?

They are different. One cannot put one in the other, and if you try, bad things can happen.

Huh, I thought someone earlier in this thread said they should be interchangeable. But I guess the OP's experience indicates otherwise.

5120 = Static RAM

5126 = Pseudo-Static RAM.

Nope, original non-PDS cards are NOT compatible.

But what about the PDS RAM cards?

Right, but CC_333 is saying that the PDS cards are also incompatible (look at the comment replied to). In your experience, is that correct?

Posted by: techknight on 2016-08-01 14:41:19
Should not be. PDS cards have to generate their own timing and address decoding. So unless the SRAM is at a gross incompatible speed, it should be fine.

and he probably didnt mean PDS. he meant the RAM slot. they are different between the two.

Yes, I meant RAM slot. PDS RAM cards are quite different, and my understanding is that some degree of interchangeability exists such that a single PDS RAM card should work in either Portable model.

The OP was asking why his PDS RAM cards aren't working. He was never asking about onboard RAM.

All my post was dictating was why 5120 and 5126 RAM cards are NOT interchangeable in the RAM slot. PSRAM requires a refresh signal which isnt present on the 5120.

I had heard that the PDS RAM card can use M5120 and M5126. But my PDS RAM card can use only M5120 and I don't use for M5126. I was surprised to know that.

I have to look for the PDS RAM card for only M5126.

If it's possible to load a memory card of 1GB on Macintosh portable, and Mac OSX can be installed, it'll be quite wonderful.

I use MessagePad 2100 in work even now. If there is a memory 8 mb, it's possible to connect Macintosh portable and this newton in NCU.

Please teach me how to use Ethernet on Macintosh portable.
