Thanks @PB170! I'm currently looking at the UI issue for monochrome displays so will hopefully have a fix out for that soon. Regarding the networking problem, do you have a full installation of Open Transport? Is Open Transport required? I only use the internet occasionally on my PowerBook these days and since I'm using the computer daily for other things, I switched to FreePPP/MacTCP because of its lower memory footprint.
I'd be happy to test the new version when it's out | Posted by: greystash on 2024-07-11 15:42:50

Really cool! Amazing the number of modern services that get adapted to work on 68k Macs š š
I tried it out on my PowerBook 170 (version 2.4) and while it runs, the interface ā like much of the software from the Platinum days ā doesn't render so well in black and whiteā¦

Also, it gets stuck at "Connecting to serverā¦". The internet connection is active and working. Hey @PB170, I had some time to look at this today and found a solution. System 7 doesnāt appear to be able to display some Platinum elements under B&W + 4 Greys modes. However, if you install the āAppearanceā extension from Mac OS 8.0 these issues are resolved. Itās not an ideal solution but itās the best I can do for now without overhauling the user interface (which I might do some time in the future). | | < 3 |
