| Struggling with Performa 6360--need help | |||||
| Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2023-04-08 14:07:51 Don’t give up on that 6360! The BlueSCSI issues are expected, V1 doesn’t sit well with several models. Getting a better setup in place for that sort of thing will help you in the long run. | |||||

I'm not sure if this is good or bad news but my BlueSCSI (v1 external) seems to work just fine with it... Since I got it, I've used that BlueSCSI with a bunch of my Macs, kinda as a boot strap USB install drive, for setting up whatever internal drive I want to use in the Mac. The only Mac I could not get it work with was my Power Macintosh 4400. | |||||

I decided to throw a Hail Mary and I pulled it out of my SE/30 and pulled out my Overeasy to give that a shot. Initially the computer actually booted up with the bluescsi connected. I saw the drives and everything. But even I tried to open one of the bluescsi drive images I got a bomb and system froze. Tried again and I was back to the system getting hung up immediately after boot. Switched SD cards out (same brand though) and it booted again, but this time the drive images didn’t mount. Launched scsi probe and it saw the drive image but when I tried to mount, bombed again. So I think the issue is with the bluescsi not the board. Right?It sounds like you don’t have a good System to boot your 6360. According to MacTracker:

I don’t have think that is the cause. I have even tried the Performa 6360 cd 💿 mage from Macintosh Garden. No different. | |||||

But make sure the adapter board can't short on the computer. You can probably use small cable ties to attach it to the drive sled, avoiding the rails' mating parts. You'll need to do what suits you. | |||||

Therefore, I am very disillusioned about the BlueSCSI. problem with Zuluscsi is the high cost for shipping - unless, someone in EU is willing to share the costs with a group buy? I could do the initial purchased. In case, where would I post this idea? Dont want to hijack this thread more than I already did. | |||||

I'm estimating because it doesn't let me see without logging in, but that would be $110. This is why Europeans don't buy as many SD card adapters. | |||||

| Posted by: mloret on 2023-04-10 03:27:22 Good morning! I wanted to let you guys know that I got the darn Bluescsi to work on the Performa 6360 after much gnashing of teeth. What a pain! I tried a million things so I am not 100% sure what did the trick but here’s what I think—1. Desktop BlueSCSI, NOT db25. I was never able to get the db25 to work correctly but the Desktop version seemed to work okay when I used my Overeasy OR plugged it into the scsi slot where the cd drive goes and 2. A different branded SD card (San Disk) overwrite formatted with SD Card Formatter. I think these two tricks were the key to getting this POS to work. You guys were right though—SCSI is slower than IDE. I will give IDE2SD a try as well as a ZuluSCSI for good measure. Thank you for the help! Ps. If anyone has an extra working CD player, this one is dead as can be? | |||||
