So you think that the PSU (even though it was recapped) is more likely to be the problem than the AB itself dispatching the power to the components?
The capacitors are really becoming a problem and should addressed first. I knew they caused voltage drops but I didn't know they caused power surges as well... Capacitors + Batteries = Mac Enthusiast's Worst Enemies

I know it's an old thread, but since my last post, the Logic board has been recapped. AND NOW IT WORKS!
Couldn't test it fully, I forgot that the HD/Floppy Drive was out... but I got to the blinking question mark!
Next week, I'll install the drivers. There's no reason why it shouldn't work now.
Thanks bibilit for recapping that SE/30 board!! You did a great job!

Tim, have you managed to get your Turbo working? Not as yet. My IIsi and PSU were having issues and was going to try it on them once they come back from checks/repairs (had no luck earlier on my recapped SE/30). The previous owner of the Turbo 030 board did suggest he had no luck with it on his system, so it might be bad. If I have no luck will probably pass it on to whoever wants it and can do something with it.

It's been nearly a year. And it's still working (no reason why it shouldn't) but I'm writing this because Trash asked me how fast compared to a IIfx the 50Mhz Powercache really is. I can't find anything on the net about any benchmarks from back in the day ATM.
Will run a few tests next Sunday. What software do you recommend for benchmarking?
Daystar did provide their own 'test utility' which is supposed to show you that you made the right choice by purchasing a Powercache, but I'm worried it might be a little biased... you know PR and stuff...

...if you do that, we could compare benchmarks; that could be fun. 🙂

Regardless, Speedometer is nice for standardization (so to speak) of benchmarks; It tests disk separately so you don't need to worry about comparing that aspect impacting the rest of the system. I've used it to benchmark the CC with the 68040 on the original board, and once I recap this 550 board I'll retest it; I have a hunch that the 32-bit datapath will make it faster.
I've even used it to benchmark MiniVMac and BasiliskII on my Ivy Bridge laptop (and will probably do the same on my Haswell Desktop; spoiler alert, BasiliskII is the faster of the two and it far outdoes any real 68k mac).
...it's not necessary, but it's a lot of fun, seeing how fast our machines are. Right? Why else would you have upgraded yours, anyway? :cc:

BGE, are you saying you don't have an fx? I haven't played with the IIfx in ages, I'll have to see if it still works or needs a recap "real soon now." I've never done any benchmarking, but it might be fun to try.
