I would have thought that, by the time of the IIci, say, it would have been redundant. Or is there a use for it even in 1990s hardware? | |
Posted by: niccyb on 2010-04-03 20:02:54Another thing is the heat as well...not such a problem in Winter, but in the middle of Summer it gets bloody hot in a car boot...my Dad leaves his work laptop in the boot of his car all the time and I'm surprised the heat hasn't damaged it.Definitely. I left a Dell Optiplex (covered in black plastic) in the back of the car for about 2 days (in the middle of summer, in Melbourne...) and when I went to collect it it was little more than a warped mass of black and grey plastic. Another issue is that with the older macs, moving them from a hot to cold environment constantly causes the plastic to brittle - hence my beige Plus cracking in several places when I went to pry it open! Weather and computers don't mix... | |
