| galgot's "new" stuff |
Posted by: galgot on 2015-09-06 02:18:35 Got some more stuff :

A 5300c , non working, battery leaked all over inside, but the screen as now replaced the passive on my 5300cs, works fine. Plus it had a 24 Ram card :

A 5300, non working… when I plug it ,it makes strange "Plok-plok-plok" noises… :

A funny pc card box going into the floppy drive bay, think it fits in the 3400c too :

A bunch of pc cards, ethernet adapter, modem and usb adapter. The Dayna Eth-adapter works fine, was able to find the drivers on on of the 5300 disk. The USB-Adapter, I've yet to find a driver for it, or does it really need one ? :

5300s documentation :

And a carrying bag with the Apple :

Was that bag made by Apple ? There is no brand mark except that Apple logo. I already had one similar bag that came with a PB170. They are well made and sized, fit exactly the size of PB1XX to 5300/190 series.

Posted by: galgot on 2015-09-06 02:35:42 And, i usually don't collect softwares but here I couldn't resist, moreover it was cheap :

Two complete Rhapsody system boxes. One is OS X Server 1.0 - Rhapsody 5.3 , and the other 1.2 - Rhapsody 5.6 .

Posted by: finkmac on 2015-09-06 10:11:53 Nice. I always like getting boxed software 😀
|
Posted by: bibilit on 2015-09-06 23:05:23 great, cheap ?
|
Posted by: galgot on 2015-09-06 23:50:33 For 5300s and stuff, so so... The things where cheap ( 20 € ), but ended up paying too much postage ( 25€ ) .
30€ for the two Rhapsody boxes.

The USB-Adapter, I've yet to find a driver for it, or does it really need one ? : Won't work with the 5300, probably with a 3400 or newer laptop (the Wallstreet for instance)
The small box for PCMCIA cards was sold with the 5300 when new, and works as a weight saver when removing the battery.
|
Posted by: galgot on 2015-09-07 06:29:33 yeah I know 5300 don't take Cardbus (cards with the yellow stripe). Wallstreets doesn't either. tried that one on a Wallstreet, it didn't work.
Suppose it won't work on a 3400… Have yet to try on a Lombard or Pismo.
|
Posted by: TheWhiteFalcon on 2015-09-07 06:54:46 Wallstreet should absolutely take CardBus.
|
Posted by: galgot on 2015-09-07 07:06:32 Well… not mines 🙂 If we agree these card with yellow stripes are Cardbus, like the ones here :

That USB-adapter doesn't work on my Wallstreet or PDQ, and I have a Wifi adapter like that with the yellow strip, doesn't work either.
But maybe i'm mistaken...

Driver should go first to get it going.

Posted by: galgot on 2015-12-22 11:56:55 Well well… after a hiatus of few month finally got another.
Was cheap (23 €) and it was missing in my collection :

300Mhz , 160 Mb of ram and a 3Gb hd. Boots fine on a 10.2.8, will try Rhapsody on it maybe.
Only problems are , no battery, trackpad seem to be dead,

and most important ! Missing Apple on the lid :-/

If anyone have a spare, I'm interested.
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2015-12-22 12:50:25 I actually might, but I'm in the US. I don't know how to remove the apple, so I'd have to send you the whole top lid part, but it's light enough that shipping *shouldn't* be a problem.
Let me know via PM if interested.

Posted by: Macdrone on 2015-12-22 13:27:18 Trackpad is probably unpluged If they tried to pull the hard drive, pulling up the panel usually disconnects it and is hard to see.
|
Posted by: galgot on 2015-12-22 13:38:43 thanks, will check that. Wanted to change the hd anyway.
|
Posted by: bibilit on 2015-12-22 23:05:04 Good Job,
Batteries are almost always flat anyway, btw only the battery is missing or the battery cover as well ?
Missing Apple on the lid The Clam has a problem with those Apple inserts, i have got a few and apart one, all of them have a missing part (most of them only the leaf is missing)
Wanted to change the hd anyway. A bit tricky, most of the laptop should be put to pieces.
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2015-12-22 23:07:45 Changing the HD is somewhat involved, but it's fairly straight forward once you get some practice.

Changing the HD is somewhat involved, but it's fairly straight forward once you get some practice. i agree, the first one is not easy, but once the first has been done, the following ones are straight forward.

Posted by: galgot on 2016-01-14 10:25:47 Got another one today. Lime :

CC_333 do you have a spare Lime Apple leaf too ? 😛

Some missing screws, and had to stuck a bit of coffee swizzle stick in the power plug to make contact...

And a broken screen. It boots fine up to the desktop...
Think I could make a multicolored one with the pieces I have. Saw some on the bay at crazy prices.
Dunno if it's a 366 or 466Mhz , it says M6411 model...
Edit: It's a 466. Funny the hd is partitioned in five volumes !… go figure...
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-01-14 16:54:47 No spare Lime parts, sorry 🙁
<brag mode> I do have a very nice Lime, though! I mean, the thing's practically like new!! </brag mode>
I think your best bet would be to wait for another decently-priced Lime clamshell to pop up, and hope that one has a good LCD and intact leaf.
Incidentally, I'm still waiting for a graphite leaf (one of mine is missing the leaf also), so if you ever find one, let me know!

Posted by: raoulduke on 2016-01-14 17:00:41 Hey the plok-plok noises on your 5300 are from the power [distribution] board, almost certainly. 3400s might take cardbus; what's the card in question? and we'd need to know a little more about your 3400c, and maybe see its motherboard.
