Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-28 21:33:17 Gah! No big animated .gifs!
What about those who browse with older Macs on slow connections?
Some of us can't tell our browsers to load all or even certain types of images last. Because of this they cause the important parts of the forum (the post content) to not be high up on the list of things to load and it can sometimes take a while to actually read anything.
Well, this forum is not quite that severe but there are an absurd amount that are like that and it would really suck to see this one go down that evil path.

Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-28 23:11:12 -_- My better Mac Plus is sometimes used online. I use the P580CD as an Ethernet to LocalTalk gateway, but that might change now that I have an asante EN/SC Mini box thingie.
I may have posted a screenshot uploaded by my PB160 in the desktops thread but I cannot remember.. meh

Posted by: Patrickool93 on 2007-06-28 23:32:59 That's really cool! A while ago I tried that using dial-up, but it didn't work, as I'm unfamilialr with Dialupping(is that a word 😉 ) since I have had Cable since I can remember.

Regardless of format, the avatars take up more bandwidth than even the most excessive of sigs... of course I'm playing Devil's advocate here.
Quadraman - you might want to think about an animated giff featuring your whole collection rather than just listing them in your sig. You mean like a banner ad with a scrolling marquee??

Posted by: Dan 7.1 on 2007-06-29 08:58:31 whynot just a link to a picture or site of all your stuffs? even a Flickr page....

Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-29 10:15:47 Linking to a plain text file on some FTP or something somewhere would be fine. And that way you could include full specs too.

The current signature limit is 500 characters, which should be more than enough... I'm not going to increase it anytime soon. I'd like to see signatures that expire after a single-digit n appearances i.e. signatures with incept dates. Helps to keep things fresh, lean.
And, of course, a process by which worthy signatures are nominated and, ultimately, included in a Really-n-Truly Wise-n-Worthy Signatures thread somewhere.
