| 7.6 will not boot to partition # 2 (Color Classic II) |
Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-08 09:51:11 woops. I posted this before, just just in case, here is the SCSI2CF unit I use. Now that I formatted using Lindo 7.56, I have 4 nice partitions and they all work well and software will now load error free.

Instead of making four partitions I'm pretty sure you can have the scsi2sd emulate four separate drives which would accomplish the same thing as putting another physical drive in the system. I looked at the manual for my scsi2cf card device. I could not find a way to do it. I will enclose the 1 page manual here. Maybe you can take a peek at it and see if you think it can be done?
I would be most grateful... That would be the perfect solution....

Posted by: jhorvath911 on 2017-07-08 14:34:54 Sorry I was thinking you had the scsi2sd adapter not cf. looking at the PDF for your card it appears as though the card only sets up as a single drive since the jumpers have you select an id.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-08 14:44:03 I would buy one of the SCSI2SD cards sold here, but the seller has never answered my email, public posts, or private emails. Emails to the email address on the web site gos un answered as well.
Thanks for looking over that manual for me.
I will keep searching.

Posted by: just.in.time on 2017-07-08 18:26:26 If you have your color classic online, you can install FTP host software (I use netpresentz or something like that) then use an ftp client like FileZilla on a modern computer to push files to your color classic. This way you can use a modern computer to download the software you want. Goes a lot faster in my opinion.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-09 17:20:20 just.in.time....
OK. Sounds good on paper. I went to the FileZilla main web page. I want to install the server, not the client. Is this correct?
I could not fined netpresentz. But I found this:
http://main.system7today.com/software/transmit/transmit.html
When tired to install it, it wanted my user ID and password and address (IP address?). Looking at tcp/ip, I entered in 8.8.8.8 but with no user ID and password it went nowhere. I remember uswer ID and passwords in the old dial up modem days.
Perhaps you can recommend a fpt client for my 68K mac?
This sounds like a great idea.
Thanks

Posted by: just.in.time on 2017-07-11 13:43:03 FileZilla is a client for your modern computer.
I got net presents from the garden as an FTP host that works on System 7.1. It bases its user and password off of what you set for the main File Sharing control panel. You will need those details, along with the IP address of your CC, when connecting from FileZilla.
I'm sure there are other ways too.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-11 14:10:31 Thanks so much for the addition information just.in.time. So FileZilla client for my windows 10 box. Got it. I will head to the garden for "net presents". Looking in control panel (with 7.6.1) I find a " Sharing Setup" icon and a "File Sharing Monitor" icon. Using the Sharing Setup icon, I entered my name, a password, and the name of my Color Classic.
Looking in TCP/IP I find the IP address for the color classic plus a router address and server address. I am sure you are talking about the IP address I find in TCP/IP.
I think the fog is staring to lift from my feeble old mind. I will down load the software and try to configure it. If this works, it will solve many problems for me.
Thanks again.

I was unable to find "net presents" at the garden. And I can't find it after doing a google search. Do you know if it has another name, or maybe a different spelling?
I did find this link:
http://mac.appstorm.net/roundups/internet-roundup/top-7-free-ftp-clients-for-mac/
But it is not listed. Any other suggestions on finding it?
Thanks again for your help.

Posted by: just.in.time on 2017-07-12 07:24:54 Sorry, it has a weird spelling. This is the proper spelling: NetPresenz
I found it by clicking APPS, then the letter N, and just scrolling alphabetically. I have poor luck with the garden's search feature.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-12 11:28:45 Found it! I was able to down load it directly into my Color Classic. Guess will be reading the manual tonight. And today I still need to install the client side of FileZilla on my windows 10 box.
Thank you for all your help!

I have NetPresenz 4.1 installed under 7.6.1 on my Color Classic. I could not find the "Internet Config" application that the manual talked about to set up NetPresenz. But I clicked on the NetPresenzSetUp icon and it seemed to be the place to configure everything. In the NetPresenzSetUp icon, I clicked on FTP and set that up. I also clicked on FTP users and added my self.
In control panel, I clicked on Sharing Set up icon and then the File Sharing monitor icon. I think I have them set up correctly. Are you running the same version of NetPresenz that I am (4.1)?
I down loaded and installed the FileZilla client. When I launch it, along the top, I see:
Host
Username
Password
Port
and then a quick connect button
If I am trying to ftp files from, say MacintoshGarden, do I enter the URL to MacintishGarden in the host field? And do I enter my user name and password to MacintoshGarden?
Is it possible to just use my web browser to down load the files I want from, say MacintoshGarden and then place the files someplace in FileZilla? Then I can go to the Color Classic and ftp them?
I am heading to the help file on line for FileZilla now so I can figure some of this out. I am new to ftp....

Posted by: just.in.time on 2017-07-13 11:49:44 No, you would browse and download files via your Windows 10 computer browser (chrome, Firefox, etc).
In FileZilla, for host, port, UN and PWD you would enter the deails for the color classic. Once connected you can send files from your Windows 10 computer to the Color Classic.
Edited to add: in FileZilla you will usually have 4 panes: status log, transfer log, local directory, remote directory.
To transfer a file, navigate the local directory pane to wherever the files downloaded on your Windows 10 box. Once connected to the Color Classic, you should see it's hard drive contents in the remote connection pane. Navigate where you want to drop the files. Then justness drag and drop files from local pane to remote pane. The progress should show in the transfer log pane (as well as some info in the status pane).
Additional note: this works two ways, you can also drag files from the Color Classic back to the Windows 10 box wifh FileZilla (and any other ftp client, usually).
Additional Edit: in NetPresents (I think I have 4.1 as well), once you start the server it usually pops up a window listing the log of that current session. In there you should see your IP, and port number. Maybe your user name as well.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-13 13:51:17 Well, I am almost there.....
I launch NetPresenz and I see a window saying it is starting up.
Going to my windows box, I enter the details into FileZilla and I get this:
**********************************
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Command: USER turboCC
Response: 331 Password required.
Command: PASS ******
Response: 530 Login failed (-5019).
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
***************************************************************************
The name of my CC is "turboCC". I tried changing the USER to my name but I got the same error message. I removed and entered in a new password into the "sharing Setup" icon. It seems to like my password because it says "PASS".
Could this be my issue:
"Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS"
I am heading over to the FileZilla web site to look up TLS and the error code -5019. That should get me going....

Posted by: just.in.time on 2017-07-13 13:56:23 In FileZilla, File-> Site Manager. Set protocol to FTP and Encryption to "Only use plain FTP (insecure)." Logon type I believe should be set to Nornal. Enter the password and user, host, and port. Click connect.
Edit: you may have to click New Site button before making other changes while in Site Manager.

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-13 14:22:35 Humm. FileZilla will not let anyone create an account to access the help forums with a gmail email addy.
Searching the internet.....
I turned off TLS in FileZilla. Now when I try to connect it says:
Status: Disconnected from server
Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.254:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 NetPresenz v4.1 awaits your command.
Command: USER turboCC
Response: 331 Password required.
Command: PASS ******
Response: 530 Login failed (-5019).
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
***********************
After I turned off TLS, I could not use Quick Connect any more. I click on FILE, and then Site Manager. Is this what you do? You probably had to turn off TLS as well?

Posted by: mraroid on 2017-07-13 14:27:28 Yea! It worked! I changed the user from the name of my Color Classic to my own name and now I am in!
Now to ftp a file.....
Thanks so much!
