I've been prodding around some without finding anything. Area has been through a vinegar, distilled water bath followed by a IPA scrub and a dry / bake run in the oven.
However, In checking resistance across the contrast curcuit, I came across something that feels off. Could you @David Cook perhaps help me out in measuring the resistance between R36 and the leg of the capacitor right next to it? I'm getting 2k Ohm here which makes me think I fudged something up while I recapped.

I'm unable to check that any time soon, as I finished fixing my last Portable earlier this week. It's all put back together and they are such a pain to disassemble. If I have reason to open one, I'll check for you.
