X2 and Y2 caps are not interchangeable. however, you can put an X2 where an X would go, and it's a similar story with Y caps |

Posted by: Maccollector on 2025-12-19 05:58:22 I saw on eBay AB for sale but this one was 120v that was plugged into 240 volts. What is the possible damage here |
Posted by: Byrd on 2025-12-19 15:52:58 Anything, I wouldn't buy it. Later universal analogue boards are interchangeable between 120 - 240V with a jumper essentially. Also keep a look out for a junk 512/Plus unit for parts. |

I saw on eBay AB for sale but this one was 120v that was plugged into 240 volts. What is the possible damage here I got my Mac Plus this way. A 120V unit was brought over to Europe and plugged into 230V. If I remember correctly, it blew one of the 100uF 200V caps and a fuse. So after 5$ of parts, it was all happy again (with step-down transformer of course). I did end up replacing both 100uF 200V caps and RIFA caps. |
