| What to do with a Powermac 9600/200MP | |
| Posted by: feeef on 2025-11-15 15:27:42 The 9600 doesn't have the A/V ports but it has 6 PCI connectors and with a card like a Pinnacle DC30, you could make your Mac a great machine for digitizing old VCR or analog camcorder tapes. I use my 9500 with such a card for that purpose and it works pretty well. Upgrading it with a G3 or G4 CPU can make it even more powerful. Those Pre-G3 Macs are the most powerful machines to run System 7 apps (even in 68k mode) and they are great machines for drawing or making art in general. System 7.6 will fly on that machine and you can use apps like Flash 5 for animations, Illustrator 8 for vector graphics or Photoshop 5.5 for drawing and image manipulation. | |

Loads of Apple and Adobe software used multiple processor's. There used to be a list online, but it seems to have dropped off the internet. | |
Posted by: Phipli on 2025-11-16 06:28:17 But also note that apple's mpeg encoder supported multiple processor's, so even QuickTime could take advantage in some situations, and anything that used QuickTime to convert. Sadly I can't find the bigger list I've seen in the past. It was mostly Adobe and Apple stuff anyway. | |
