So, I used an IDE to SD converter and the whole 10.4 install went perfectly fine, just like the last drive. I used shuriken to download the 10.4.11 update, but it crashed right on the finish asking for a restart, and when it powered on, the black box appeared again.
..

I thought you were supposed to do the 10.4.11 updates before even installing shuriken, a necessary requirement to do Shuriken over it?
your 'black box' looks just like the black background window for a kernel panic, just without the text over it.

When I downloaded shuriken, it was a folder am I opened it there was three folders. In folder 1 haven't download link for 10.4.11 update, I did that and then it crashed right before the download completed.

It does boot from a 10.4 install disk but fails.

To me, this sounds like a hardware problem. I would sort this out first. If the error messages are related to the file system, I would start with the drive, the drive connection, etc. I would try a different drive, type of drive/adapter, type of connection, etc. The flex cable and connectors are somewhat fragile. Does it work on a firewire drive? If the error persists, I would try different RAM, then a different CPU module. If you have a second computer, swap parts until it is stable.

Then mess around with software tweaks...

Fixed it. Tore it down completely then built it back up. Made a new universal installer of 10.4 and installed through target disk mode on a machine with a much more stable and quicker drive. Then, installed the update. Everything seems stable for now.

IIRC, the Pismo will need a pram battery to work properly ( but I don’t have a Pismo myself) the Wallstreet is playing ok without, but will have issues with backlight or contrast, the bronze don’t need a battery either (I have both and the batteries have been dead for a while now)
Sometimes the Pismo will act dead if a dead PRAM battery is plugged in, but they don’t need one to work properly.
