Not sure its worth all the work, but you could design a transposer to change the orientation/position of the aforementioned upgrade - i.e. socket booster (see pic). Not exactly this... I'm just using the picture to convey the thought process., i'd design something like it to change the socket position so the socket blaster would fit with no clearance issues.
Another upgrade path would be a Radius Rocket, but you could purchase a super nice 040 machine for what they cost nowadays | | < 2 |
