This is interesting, and I can see that I could stand to learn a bit more about the boot process...

One limitation that I've found with the SE cards is that if you have multiple bootable partitions on a drive connected to an SE, it will only boot the first bootable partition regardless of which volume you select in the Startup Disk control panel.

Do you like staring into abysses? Because this is how you end up staring into abysses :-D

I wouldn't say that I enjoy it as such, but I do have a habit of succumbing to these kinds of morbid curiosities...!

I have the 3.2.6 firmware on my website. It's solved a lot of the finicky issues with my FWB cards, including making one resume working with my IIci. I had one that would work fine, and another that wouldn't. Then when talking to other people, they had identical issues, but when put into different machines. This weirdness went away with updated to 3.2.6.

There's no official documentation about the firmware or what it fixed. The update was only released on the PowerComputing Release 2.2 Update CD, and nowhere else. Not even on their own website. If you read the Read Me file, you'll see the handful of bugs it's known to have fixed just through testing. The biggest for me was increased compatibility with magneto optical media.

Thank you for this. This is very helpful since I do have MO drive. I will give it a try and let you know.

So I can’t get the card to work even with 3.2.6 version. I even tried to flash the ROM.

Apple personal Diagnostics is not showing the card under expansion cards. Should it show up in there even if it doesn’t work? Or not showing is bigger issue with the card?

Not sure about Apple Personal Diagnostics but if it isn't appearing in TechTool or Slots then something is certainly awry, and this probably applies to APD too

The firmware on these cards gets corrupted very often for some reason. You can force the control panel to flash a card that isn’t detected at all and that will bring most cards back to life.

@Bolle finally my iici detected the card when I did options click to version number. I showed which slot card was in but when I click okay to flash it. Mac just freezes. I only have 8mb in iici. Maybe that’s the issue? I moved it to q650 but the card is not showing up.

Thank you. I will look for it. Does this card play nice with zuluscsi?

I have a IIfx with this card. It's been in storage for a while but I was using it with a ZuluSCSI and didn't have issues.

I remember struggling trying to get a Radius Rocket working, but the ZuluSCSI was fine.
