Powerbook 2400c inverter
Posted by: Powerbook27364 on 2023-07-22 15:51:17 I’ll take a look at those options tonight and hopefully I can figure out where the problem is. I don’t know much about inverters/ccfl bulbs but do they need anything special to power the bulbs? Would it be possible to just hook the required voltage up to the bulb and run it like that without an inverter? I really don’t want to buy another 2400 for a display and inverter but if I can’t get either that might be the last option.

I just remembered years ago replacing the CCFL bulb on a 2400c with a bulb for Frys electronics and that worked, so I tried that on this one and it didn't work. After that I bought a tester on Amazon using that the backlight works fine so I put up my post to see if anyone knows a bit more about the inverter in the 2400c.
Posted by: Powerbook27364 on 2023-07-22 16:06:11 Fair enough. Hopefully this will at least make some attention towards it since these are rare enough already and failure of the inverter seems common. I’ll ask a friend who deals with these computers to see if he knows anything about the inverters

Posted by: Powerbook27364 on 2023-12-22 08:11:29 After several months and a second display and second dead inverter I finally fixed it. Both inverters had a blown F1 fuse. After bridging the fuse (I am ordering a replacement), the inverter is working perfectly again. Maybe that is your issue as well.

Both also came from Japan.
Posted by: finkmac on 2024-03-25 05:13:25 both of my badfuse inverters are from (japanese) vinegar syndrome 2400s as well. the one good polarizer display unit didn't have the bad fuse.
Posted by: finkmac on 2024-07-18 12:18:39 alright, several months later.. i've repaired 3 different inverters by replacing the F1 fuse. @Powerbook27364 suggested this fuse part which works perfectly. You can probably use something else that's comparable.
