Not dead, just black back lit screen. It worked the one time i powered it on before recap. Then it didn’t so i recapped it. Did you replace those inductors on yours?

Does you have to push a key to start it or does it turn on upon receiving power? I did not have to replace the inductors on mine. I do know that it isn't the only thing that can cause the black screen issue, only issue is that the other causes of it haven't been figured out.

I have to push the key to power it on. Same with other powerbook 100. Both exact same symptoms

Mine did that when I first tested it out, but for some reason I can't explain, it just started working a minute later. Haven't got a clue why. I'd try putting a known good hard drive in to hear out via the clicking whether it's actually booting or not. Make sure it's running the right system version. That would narrow out some major logic board issue and confine the problem to the LCD itself or something in the display circuit (such as the inductors). How bad did the original caps leak?
