can't install 8.1

oh i didnt get it working, the software legacy cd said that files are missing, cant be read, or other errors that wont install. so have to try different options

I downloaded the link #10 on this page: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macintosh-system-81-mac-os-81

I extracted the .zip and successfully installed a universal system, checking every single option and file. Not sure what you've got going on, but the ISO I downloaded installed just fine without error. Maybe try that one?

i finally got it installed, i used the international edition on mac garden and i used the option trick just to be on the safe side. as for wish i were, i told it that i was my original performa 475. it installed fine, i was able to copy over my extensions and control panels from 7.6.1 and deleted that folder. then tried to install ther 8.1 update, took two tries but it did install. that all works now, now the only issue i have to figure out is when i download a file in netscape 3, it downloads to the desktop but stuffit 5 won't open it. it just internally crashes without letting me know whats going on. might need a reinstall

You probably need version 5 of Stuffit Expander and don't have it?

i had ver 5 installed on 7.6.1 when i was running it, maybe might need a reinstall
