| Can Anyone Provide Any Information On This "Prototype" Power Macintosh 6360? |

Video won't upload but that button seems to actually reboot it every time which I guess I'll try three more times. OK it booted thank god, it's running System 7.7 with Debugger and there is a ton of Apple internal files on this thing. |

It must be an early version of what became Mac OS 8.0 (it would've probably been released as Mac OS 7.7, but soon after his return as iCEO, Steve Jobs ordered that it be incremented to 8 to exploit a loophole in the clone program to nullify the clone makers' licenses (said licenses were apparently only valid for System 7), as I recall reading somewhere).
Therefore, that hard drive must absolutely, 10,000% be preserved and a copy put somewhere. Internet Archive? Mac Garden?

c I 100% agree there's a ton of stuff I've never heard of on here, I don't have the know how to preserve it though. It needs to be preserved! |

Doesn't the 6360 use IDE drives? If so, maybe you can just put it in a more modern Power Mac (some kind of G4, say), and use that to image the drive and transfer that image from there to wherever? That shouldn't take much know-how.

Hmm, well, if you can find an old IDE enclosure with USB, you could use that perhaps?
Modern macOS only supports HFS Standard in read only mode, but that should be good enough (actually better, because then it won't get polluted by macOS).
Alternatively, go find yourself a G4. There are still some cheap ones around if you look hard enough. Or find someone local who has one and use that?

So went to boot back up again and this happened I'm sure it's still bootable it looks like ATM won't load and the OS booting hangs I can type in the command line but kinda nervous, what should I do? |

If you have a suitable mac formatted SCSI drive or SD solution you can plug into the DB25, dragging the drive icon from the desktop into another drive or folder should copy all contents.
If you have an AAUI to RJ45 ethernet dongle you can use that Comm slot card to connect to an Appletalk server, but you'd need to have something OS 9 or older that can act as a server; maybe this can be emulated on the 2017 iMac? I'm guessing that install doesn't have the later AppleShare client updates for connecting to OS X, but if it does it'll work with servers running up to 10.4.x. |

This isn't going to help directly, but I spot a SCSI port on the back. Try booting it while holding down the "T" key on the keyboard. That should put it in "T"arget Disk mode. It that works, another possibility would be connecting it (when in this mode) to another vintage Mac - it would then appear on that Mac like external (SCSI) hard drive.
To get out of Target Disk mode, just reboot. |

Worst comes to worst I will gladly ship it to someone here who can do it for me. A strange discovery I made so far is that #1 this machine will not display any video with the RCA card, not sure why that is though so if I remove it everything boots fine. Also I looked at the 7.7 about notes and everything in there is for 7.5.5 and a 7.5.3 update so clearly there was some moving around of things. |

this machine will not display any video with the RCA card Those RCA ports are used for video input. There are a couple expansions that can do RCA composite out, but they'd go in the GIMO video port or the PCI slot.
Oops, re-read that and realized you mean it stops the main video from working. Odd... |

I have an external IDE drive enclosure if you'd like me to image it, or a G3 available. But probably try the target disk mode suggestion first.
Ive never even came across anything about a system 7.7! Got to save that drive! That would have to mean a 7.7 installer is floating around too... |

Yeah saw that. That’s also a2C5 slightly different from what’s on mine. The icons are slightly different and there’s some other differences. Such as you can see in my images this is updated and has a built in debugger to the OS and an Apple designed speed and performance test. So that a2C5 was actually after this release and is almost Mac OS 8. |
