Posted by: joshc on 2023-01-18 08:55:53 For no logical reason at all, I bought a second Pismo... got it today, bought as untested without a power supply. Removed the PRAM battery, hooked it up, and it powered on first try.

Also I think I have a spare 1400 UK keyboard if you want to swap it out for something more style appropriate. (And I need to test a couple of CPUs for a 1400 that I found for @croissantking so I kinda need to get to some 1400 stuff anyway 😅)

Incidentally I think this machine came from @slomacuser originally. It's fun when a machine makes the rounds. I used to have a German 475 as well, a few years ago, bought on eBay.de as the price even with shipping wasn't too bad.

The battery needs to be rebuilt too, the current one has swollen slightly (don't worry, I am not keeping it in the PowerBook).
Posted by: joshc on 2023-02-08 02:05:36 Took a gamble on a IIfx from Germany and it paid off. It was sold as a Macintosh IIfx but inside a Mac II case, with no photos of inside it. So I had no idea if it would be a battery explosion or if it would even be an actual IIfx inside. Well, turns out it is a IIfx, and it has the Maxell batteries but not exploded! 🥳 It's one of those IIfx with entirely electrolytics on the board, no tantalums. Boooo. Caps have leaked badly but hoping I can get it going again...

Posted by: LaPorta on 2023-02-08 06:05:58 The 1400c screen really is great. You’ll be very happy after the recap. Plus, the recap fixes the wonky brightness/contrast switch issues that they all have now.

F245s and the like have some cap goo on them but all the important stuff looks good.
